Day 7 (7/6/02) - Moab, UT to Flagstaff, AZ

We left Moab in the morning and drove down through Monument Valley and the painted desert and into the Grand Canyon, stopping along the way at a couple of Indian trading posts and eating what was left of our picnic supplies somewhere around Kayenta, AZ.  We arrived at the canyon at around 4:30 in the afternoon and began driving along the south rim, stopping at all of the overlooks to take pictures and at the Tusayan Ruin for a brief tour.  We then headed down to the IMAX theater in Tusayan, arriving just as the 7:30 show was beginning (or so we thought.)  After a few minutes of confusion between us and the ticket clerk, I realized that I'd turned the clock in the car the wrong way upon entering Arizona (which doesn't practice Daylight Savings Time.)  So in fact, it was really 5:30 and not 7:30.  We hung around and caught the 6:30 IMAX show and then decided to head down into Flagstaff to stay the night, hoping that it would provide easier/cheaper pickings for motels.  After dinner in Flagstaff, we set out to explore the city.  Finding a motel room there proved to be difficult, though.  Where we ended up was at an inn on the NAU campus maintained by their Hotel/Restaurant Management department (no complaints, though-- it was actually very posh and quite reasonable.)
