Day 6 (7/5/02) - Fort Collins, CO to Moab, UT

After stopping at the CSU library to check our E-Mail, it was on the road again.  Destination: Utah, the 5th state in our journey.  We once again managed to completely bypass Denver, although we did stop for a moment in Golden so I could see the house I lived in circa 1978.  From there it was out I-70, through the Eisenhower tunnel, and to Glenwood Canyon.  We ate a picnic lunch in Glenwood Canyon, followed by a bit of picture taking.  At some point near the Utah border, we saw a sign for Las Vegas and realized that it wasn't nearly as far away as we thought.  So we then hatched a plan to go there instead of Bryce Canyon.  We followed the Colorado River down scenic route 128 into Moab and headed directly to Arches National Park.  In order to squeeze Vegas into the trip, we needed to see Arches that evening, but fortunately we managed to see everything in Arches worth seeing in the 3 hours before sundown.  We checked into a motel in Moab and headed down to the Moab Brewery for dinner and an impromptu education on the difference between a tavern liquor license and a restaurant liquor license in Utah.
